Secure & Resilient Networking for Deployed Vehicles

Ambulance Service - Software Defined NetworksBlue Light Services in the UK, Europe and across the world are increasingly looking to take advantage of on-the-road connectivity for their deployed fleets in order to provide both expedited access to data services as well as to provide security and accountability while in the field.

In the case of ambulance and fire services this can mean having a live feed taken from the cameras mounted on the inside and outside of the vehicle and sent to the central control room. However, these solutions are deployed with a single mobile network providing connectivity, which in many cases becomes non-functional in areas where that network suffers weak or non-existent mobile signal coverage, resulting in a failure to capture any incidents happening in and around the vehicle.

Our experience in researching and developing advanced network capabilities to realise that such solutions meeting this challenge must have the ability to self-heal – dynamically reconfiguring themselves as network bearers become available and then degrade or become unavailable.

dashAlpha

As an advanced software-defined bonded networking platform, dashAlpha meets this challenge by delivering secure, seamless and resilient aggregated networking across a multitude of network technologies and providers, intelligently bonding these multiple networks – whether using TCP-based or UDP-based protocols – into a single, secure and high-capacity connection which adapts as network conditions change.

This enables users to take full advantage of robust and reliable voice and video call sessions as well as video streaming and bulk data transmission, taking advantage of local terrestrial WAN technologies such as 5G, LTE and public WiFi hotspots as well as low latency SATCOM links where required to maintain connectivity.

Our ‘zero touch’ philosophy has resulted in a platform with a simple user interface and a high degree of automation to deliver a secure, high-capacity network connection with minimal involvement, while running on industry-proven COTS hardware.
Additionally, dashAlpha’s support for high-assurance inline cryptographic devices provides an additional layer of security for sensitive data as it is sent to the control room at headquarters.
