Secure & Resilient Networking for Vehicle Fleets & Field Operators
In today’s world, continuous connectivity is key. Organisations are increasingly looking to extend their networks further and further from their central place of operations, especially into environments where reliable wired connectivity is not possible. Such environments could be a rural location where remote workers operate, mass passenger transport such as inter-city or cross-continental rail, or a town or city after an environmental disaster.
In such a scenario, the need to operate as if the network was still contained within the boundaries of a fixed location, with all of the expected capability, security and application performance, still remains. To meet this challenge, UniVirtua developed dashAlpha.
dashAlpha
dashAlpha is an advanced software defined networking platform with a focus on intelligent, seamless, resilient and secure network access across a multitude of bearer technologies – such as 5G, LTE, WiFi and satellite – all while being intuitive and easy to use. The simple user interface and a high level of automation delivers a secure, high-bandwidth network connection with minimal involvement.
dashAlpha applies intelligent, adaptive bonding to all active bearers. Adaptive bonding enables the bandwidth of each active bearer to be added to the overall pool of available bandwidth, thereby increasing overall data throughput across all bearers. Additionally, support for bonding the UDP protocol enables uninterrupted video streaming for applications such as WhatsApp, as well as communications suites like Skype and Microsoft Teams.
If a bearer becomes unavailable or degrades due to poor latency or signal quality, dashAlpha will intelligently optimise the transmission across other available bearers and the unstable bearer is dynamically de-prioritised (and possibly removed from consideration altogether), thereby automatically maintaining connection stability. dashAlpha can also be configured to allow the most cost-effective bearers to be prioritised, such as ships choosing shoreline networks and dropping costly satellite connections.
Target Markets
dashAlpha can bring communications resilience to a number of target markets where continuous and cost-effective network connectivity is a highly valued capability. Such markets include disaster relief, mass passenger transport (road, rail, maritime, air), freight transport (road, rail, maritime, air), construction and remote workers.
